Union Street is the thriving heart of the city off of which are many of Aberdeen's main attractions, including the technically accomplished Union Street Bridge built in the 19th century. The Aberdeen Art Gallery is one of the city's most popular attractions and well worth a few hours' visit to study its fine art collection from the 19th and 20th centuries. Satrosphere Science Centre Satrosphere Science Centre isn't just about having fun with science while you're here, it's about having fun with science wherever you are. Aberdeen Art Gallery Aberdeen's splendid Art Gallery, which opened in 1885, is one of the city's most popular tourist attractions. In its elegant marble-lined interior is displayed a varied collection of works of art, including outstanding examples of Modern Art, and work by the Impressionists and the Scottish Colourists. Visitors can also see contemporary craft, Aberdeen silver and a wide range of decorative art. The Harbour No visit to Aberdeen is complete without a visit to the historic harbour area. The excellent Maritime Museum is located on a site with Provost Ross's House, which is reputed to be the oldest building in the city. Multi-media displays tell the interesting history of Aberdeen's intimate connection with the ocean. Codona's Amusement Park Set on the beach front in Aberdeen, this is more an entertainment complex than a straightforward amusement park. It's got a looping roller coaster – the only one in Scotland – log flumes, dodgems, a ghost train and other white-knuckle rides, but it's also got full-sized pool tables, a bowling complex and simulators. |
